The Ilima Maile Design...Used by Hi'iaka, the goddess of healing in the family of Pele, the lively orange 'ilima is the flower of O'ahu. Wearing the 'apika ('ilima) lei is said to attract mischievous spirits. Maile, a native plant, is assoiated with the hula and worship of the gods. It was used as a peace offering on the battlefield.
